What happened

Ben Hamilton is a Columbus, OH music promoter, community activist, and all around good guy. On March 13th, after leaving one venue where he was promoting a show to go another venue where another show was being held, he was hit by a driver going through a red light, T-boning Ben and pushing him into other traffic. He sustained a broken neck, 11 broken ribs, and some traumatic brain injury. Ben had surgery that successfully repaired his neck injury, but then developed pneumonia that kept him in the ICU for 2 weeks. After leaving the ICU he was admitted to an in-patient rehabilitation center, where he is receiving physical, speech and occupational therapy, which he will continue to require in an out-patient capacity for several months.

Ben’s recovery is going very well, and everyone involved feels very positive about his future. He has a long road back, however, and has the additional challenges of being both out of work and accruing astronomical hospital bills. This site is a place where well-wishers can make a financial contribution to Ben. We hope to see him out very soon, continuing to bring great music to Columbus.
